MOLD INSPECTIONS

According to the EPA, molds can be found almost anywhere;
they can grow on virtually any organic substance, as long as there
is a food source, appropriate temperatures, and a source of moisture.
This means that it is virtually impossible to eliminate all mold
and mold spores in the indoor environment.
However, mold growth can be controlled indoors
by controlling moisture indoors. Stop the source of the moisture,
and you stop the growth of mold.
When visual identification is unsuccessful, testing
may be a more appropriate action.

MOLD SAMPLING & LAB TESTING
When excessive moisture accumulates in buildings or
on building materials, mold growth will often occur, particularly
if the moisture problem remains undiscovered or unaddressed.
Mold testing is important when a mold-like growth
needs to be identified absolutely (is it mold or not?), or when
a hidden mold problem is suspected. Red flags that typically indicate
the need for testing:
- Visible mold-like growth
- Musty odor anywhere in the home
- Family member with allergies or other illness
- Construction or Plumbing defects
- Poorly maintained or dirty heating and air system
- Evidence of past or present water infiltration (moisture intrusion)
- Cracks in bath tile, missing caulk, failed toilet seals, or
leaking drains

Mold Inspections
NOTE: If a mold-like substance is discovered, the
only way to know positively if it IS mold would be to send
a sample to a lab (see mold testing
options right).
Mold Screening: This
service is generally referred to as a mold inspection. This
is a formal although general visual examination, looking
for mold-like substances throughout the home. This service
is priced based on the size of your home. NOTE: A Mold Screening
is INCLUDED with our 4

of mold growth, and results in a verbal report (no written
report generated). When to Choose This Service:

source of the problem discovered and a remedy defined so
you can make a proper repair quickly.
Moisture Intrusion Assessment:

Mold Sampling & Testing
If you are concerned about the possible presence of mold
in your home, please call us to explain the situation so we
can guide you to the best solution - we're here to help!
Several options are available for determining if mold is
present, see below. Samples are shipped to an accredited lab
for testing. Test site location(s) chosen by customer.
Surface Sampling: If
you can see a spot that is suspected to be mold, this test
will confirm if it is mold or not. We take a sample of the
mold-like substance (via a swab or tape lift) and ship it
to the lab for processing.
Air Sampling: This
service is for you when mold is not actually visible, but
occupants are sensitive, have allergies or asthma, or are
otherwise symptomatic, OR there is a "musty smell"
or other suspicion for possible mold growth. We take air
samples using specialized equipment and ship them to the
lab for processing.
Inside Wall Sampling:
For those times when a moisture intrusion or water leak
event has occured but was not dryed out properly (or was
undiscovered for a length of time), creating a possible
mold situation inside a wall that cannot be confirmed without
tearing out the wall. This service requires drilling.
Call for pricing! A discount is available when you
combine these services with other services,
or for 3 rooms or more sampled. 904-268-8211.
