Radon is a naturally occurring gas that can only be detected through professional sampling. Most commonly forming in the soil beneath a home, radon can rise to dangerous levels and is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. At HomePro Inspections, we offer radon sampling (also commonly referred to as an inspection) so you are properly informed and can take steps to mitigate if necessary. 3-Day Radon Sampling
Radon sampling is recommended anytime you purchase a new or existing home, or move into a rental property.
- 3-day sampling period
- Lab tested
- Lab report included
- Two site visits required
Description: We will need to arrange two visits to the home, a minimum of 3 days apart: first to drop off sampling equipment, then to pick up equipment. This service also requires “closed home” conditions for 12 hours before sampling and for the full duration of the sampling process. Two samples are taken simultaneously for the most accurate reading possible. After the sampling period, both samples are expedited to a certified lab for analysis and processing. The final report typically takes 5 business days to come back from the lab (from date of equipment pick up).
Note: Site location(s) chosen by customer. Samples are shipped to an accredited lab for testing.
Learn the Facts about Radon
Since radon is an invisible, odorless, and tasteless gas, sampling is the only way to determine the radon levels in your home.
Radon is produced during the radioactive breakdown of naturally occurring radium that is found in most soils.
Radon can be released by building materials, such as granite countertops, that are inside a home.
Originating in the soil, radon gas typically enters a home through small openings in the foundation. Radon levels within a home can increase when the gas gets trapped inside.
Any home – old, new, well-sealed, with or without a basement – can have high levels of radon gas.
Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. (smoking is the first). It’s the number one cause of lung cancer in non-smokers.
While some geographic areas are more prone to high radon levels than others, location does not provide an accurate prediction. Homes in the same neighborhood can have vastly different radon levels.
It’s a common myth that radon does not exist in Florida due to the sandy soil. However, the EPA claims that high levels of radon have been detected in all states, and recommends sampling for all locations.
